The wonderful, inviting and spicy aroma's of a pot of Gluhwein........ especially for you, Anneli.

mmmmm, I love that inviting aroma that dominates the kitchen when brewing up a pot of Gluhwein....... and the warm memories of Innsbruck and Christmas Markets in Germany.

Can you smell the cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and citrus aroma's?
The ingredients are so simple, but I warn you..... stock up because one cask of wine will not go far!

What to do:

Heat up 2 L of Dry Red Wine, together with an orange cut in half, a 1/4 cup sugar .... or more depending on how sweet you like your Gluhwein, and two cinnamon sticks, 6 whole cloves and a whole nutmeg.
I have a small muslin bag with a cork attached to it for my spices. This makes it easy to re use and also you will not accidently serve someone a whole clove!
Once warm, adjust flavouring according to your taste, and serve in mugs.

Once you have started a pot, just keep on topping it up with fresh oranges, fresh spices, and of coarse more wine!

Serve in your favourite mugs...... mine have sweet memories of my Coffee Shop....... Cheers to all who remember Heidi's Coffee Shop in Cavendish Square.

Enjoy sitting next to the fireplace.... or even better, curled up under the duvet on the couch with your favourite fur friend..... Cheers to a wonderful winter!
